Google AdSense Performance

A few months ago I added Google AdSense to ChrisBlogging. The main reason for doing this was to see how it would perform. I have used AdSense in the past on other blogs and websites, and my success rate varied from average to extraordinary.

So what is the verdict? Simply put, AdSense is not performing that great on this blog. There are a couple of reasons for this.

1. I do not have enough visitors to generate a large number of clicks.

2. Since most people who visit this blog are web savvy, they are not prone to clicking on the AdSense ads. I have found that AdSense is best for sites that are not related to making money online, etc. In other words, sites or blogs where the majority of readers are not aware of what AdSense is all about. They simply see an ad that they are interested in, and click.

Am I going to keep AdSense active for much longer? While I have yet to decide for sure, chances are that when my new design goes live, that AdSense will get kicked to the curb. There are many other monetization methods that are much more profitable for a blog of this kind.

There is nothing wrong with using AdSense on all your sites and blogs if you are interested in quickly setting up a mode of monetization. But remember, some niches are more profitable than others when it comes to making money with Google AdSense.

you are so right about point 2, many adsense publishers don’t take that into consideration.

Hey…..you are right,May be u can switch to some other ways of monetising like affiliate programs related to freelancing ,payperpost and so on…. Good Luck :)

I’m in the same boat when it comes to my blog. I generally get a click or two per day if I’m lucky. However one of my other sites which only gets 20-40 uniques a day on average gets 10 or so clicks a day because it’s not targeting savvy internet users like my blog does.

Sounds like you guys and gals are experiencing some of the same. Erik – like you said, blogs that have a large number of non internet savvy readers do much better!

    Chris,

I’ve been having a problem with AdSense myself, but it’s a totally different one. My problem is that the ads are completely irrelevent to whatever content I’ve posted. Have you ever had this experience before?

I am wondering if perhaps it is because I have just changed blogging platforms and merged two blogs into one. Due to that I’m still low on the PR scale, but I would think that the ads would still be relevent…

Have you ever had this problem and does it fix itself in time, if you have?

    Gigi

I totally agree with you Chris, affiliate programs may play well with money making blog.

Do you know which niches might be more profitable for adsense? I’m looking to create more web sites. With a newborn and a 2 year old at home I need to create more income. You had said that adsense wasn’t performing well on this site. My site is about organic living, and I think if I could get higher rankings it would do much better. It has taken some time but I am still low on the search engines. Even with all of my optimazation efforts with h1 tags, keywords, submitting to directories etc. What other niche sites do you think would be good to create without too much competition?

    Thanks

    Sarah :)

    Hi Folks,

    1. If you want adsense to work, place the ads directly under the heading of the article. actually, this means it almost gets in the readers way – and they may click it rather than scroll down.

    2. place it in the top right hand side of the page – 11 o clock. look at where labnol puts his and copy this.

    3. dont put in the right menu. complete waste of time.

    4. the more specific your site is, the more refined and highly valued your click-thrus will be.

    be speciifc.

most bloggers cant say what their site is in 1 sentence.

    so, working backwards:

    1. what is your site – 1 sentence

    2. place the ads ala labnol.org

    3. split test

    4. test

    5. test again

    6. collect the checks!

    Ivan
