Freelance Writers, Happy 4th of July

Just wanted to make a quick post wishing everybody a happy 4th of July. Even if you do not live in the United States, you can still have a great day.

Why are you working on the 4th? This is a question that I have been asked several times this week. I am going to put in a couple of hours this morning, but for the most part I will probably take it easy. With most of my clients also celebrating the 4th, there is not really any reason for me to be at the computer all day long.

Is anybody else in the United States working today? If so, make sure that you leave some time for family and relaxation as well. After all, you do not want to burn out!

Again, happy 4th of July to all!

Happy 4th, Chris. I’m working today too. But like you I won’t work all day long. Mostly on my own stuff like preparing marketing materials, working on my new website’s portfolio and maybe writing a couple of blog posts so I have a good head start for next week. I don’t get enough time to work on my own stuff, so holidays are good times to do so.

Anyone who is self employed gets used to working on holidays. It’s just a part of the biz.

I’ve been up since 5am (my usual though) and the last 7 hours have been the most productive I’ve done all year. I keep churning out one thing after another. I didn’t plan on it, my brain was just unusually active first thing this morning and I went with it. It will make for a great relaxing weekend though!

I am working today since I live in Canada … and there is no holiday here today. ;-)

I worked on the 4th. Not for very long though. And then I spent time with the family to enjoy the fireworks display at the park.
